I've been listening to Horus Rising (by the master himself Dan Abnett), the first book in the Horus Heresy sci-fi epic, and I need a little help on where to go next. So what are your favorite books from the Horus Heresy Series? The Horus Heresy is a great series and its something that every single 40k fan wants to read about, people may dislike certain factions or certain. Horus Rising False Gods Galaxy in Flames Flight of the Eisenstein The First Heretic. I got into Warhammer 40k fiction after playing the games and reading up a bit on their Lexicanum wiki. Something like the Horus Heresy is always going to be expanded on. I read a lot of books (Eisenhorn Trilogy, Space Marine Battles, Ciaphas Cain, etc) before actually getting into the Horus Heresy Series. I dont say every BL writer is awesome and every novel/sourcebook is according to my thinking 40K universe. The opening trilogy of novels (Horus Rising by Dan Abnett, False Gods by Graham McNeill and Galaxy In Flames by Ben Counter) deal with Horus' rise to Warmaster, and his descent into treachery, or heresy, if you will. I just recently read the 'original trilogy' of novels - Horus Rising, False Gods, and Galaxy in Flames - and they were ok as far as pulpy science fantasy goes. The newer books are so much more capturing than the others, it took me quite some time to finish Horus Rising and Legion, yet I finished The First Heretic in two days and I received Prospero Burns yesterday afternoon and read 4 chapters, then finished it around 4.00pm today. I was hoping that this one would be as good as Horus Rising even more so as it focused on the Word Bearers assault on Calth and the first major phase of the Heresy after the battles on Istavaan III and V. Themes it centres on (chiefly about being more about the wolves as a legion than keeping up with the whole HH series). Dipped into the book again, LOVED IT, remembered that Mr. Faeit 212: Warhammer 40k News and Rumors. Horus Rising Second time I hear First Heretic though, no idea what it's about or if it's even the same Samus I'm talking about xD shouts, "Samus is here!" is a bloodthirster that appears in several horus heresy novels. Abnett has written titles such as 'horus rising' and 'legion', then realized how amazingly awesome he is.
