It is a solid overview of Ruby but I feel that I have spent too much time reexamining the concepts. Black is wrapping up a new book that covers the features in Ruby 1.9. No Starch Press Ruby by Example, Concepts and Code (2007).pdf. I've worked through the first 100 pages or so of the Well-grounded Rubyist.
